Dr. Goldman has always been a strong leader. It will be nice to see a fresh perspective on the school board. Please take some time to look through Dr. Goldman’s website to see where he stands on the issues facing our district, his background, and his plan for the school district.
Check back often to this blog for campaign updates and let us know what you think by leaving a comment.
I think change is necessary and a good thing. Dr. Goldman is exactly what District A needs.

I didn’t know much about Edward Goldman until I read the information on his website. It seems that he will be a breath of fresh air on the School Board. I am looking forward to meeting him and getting to know more about what he stands for.

I was so pleased to see that Dr. Goldman is a candidate for the school board. My son got in trouble and when everyone and I mean everyone gave up on him and just wanted him thrown away, Dr. Goldman believed in him, punished him but stayed the course with him and made him believe in himself. Every month he was required to call Dr. Goldman and report on his progress and Dr. Goldman never ever failed to call him back. He’s graduating next week but only because of Dr. Goldman. If he did that for my son, I know he will do great things for all students.

Dr. Goldman has shown his devotion time and time again to the students and parents of Clark County. I can’t imagine anyone more qualified or more deserving. We need someone like him to ensure the continued success, and necessary changes needed for our future. He is a person of exemplary knowledge and heart to guide us in the direction needed. We are lucky to have someone of his caliber running for this position.

As a Henderson resident, I follow issues that impact my children very closely, and Dr. Goldman has always been on the cutting edge. His implementation of many well researched, successful programs has benefited so many students in the Clark County School District. He will undoubtedly continue to follow through with visionary projects in a timely manner, which is in sharp contrast to what we now see with our present board members. Dr. Goldman’s work ethic, knowledge and strategic planning are what are needed to improve the present state of education in Clark County.

I was turned on to this blog by a friend who told me that Dr. Goldman was running for the school board. I had not known what happened to him since he left the Southeast Region. My eldest daughter just loved the late start times he put into place at Foothill High School when she was a freshman. As soon as he left, somebody did away with it. However, more importatnly, my youngest son just comleted fifth grade at Walker International. This is the only school like it in Clark County. When it first opened, I was skeptical, but my son is only 10 and now speaks Spanish. His mother and I are so proud of him and he now wants to learn another language. Dr. Goldman is about kids and he has my vote and that of my whole family.

I just want to second what Samantha Eger wrote. I know its all true because my son also got into trouble as a senior and his principal at his magnet school expelled him and was not going to let him participate in graduation. A four year straight “A” student and he did one thing wrong and four years were going down the tube. My whole family had flown here for the occasion and his principal would not budge.
Dr. Goldman was so nice to him when we met and went to bat for him with his principal. He graduated and has now completed his first year of college.
I had called our school board trustee who didn’t even bother to call me back. Some lady from her office told me she was not allowed to get involved in these matters so Dr. Goldman gets my vote. (and my son’s too)

Dear Eddie!
Thank you for your fair and balanced decision making for kids who are in the foster care system! When needed, you see beyond the behavior and carefully exam the horrible history of the child.
You are an amazing administrator!!

I really appreciate the leadership Dr. Goldman has provided to my son. As a “wandering soul”, my son was not focused and became disconnected with his high school education. Due to an offense my son then committed, he was assigned to meet with Dr. Goldman. At that time, my son went to a reform school and had to check in with Dr. Goldman regularly. Now, two years later, my son is scheduled to graduate in January. Without the guidance of Dr. Goldman, I believe my son would be in the criminal justice system. Thank you.

Dr. Goldman is the best person for this job, by far!!! He is a well educated man that has the respect of the high school principals in the Las Vegas Valley. He will do what is right for kids and will always make good decisions.

Whoever reads this – I just checked out Dr. Goldman’s opponent in the RJ Voters’ Guide.- this woman is clueless!! No education, no work related experience and wants more Halloween parties in lieu of reading, writing and math. Claims she is short a few classes from an “AA degree” which is nothing more than a certificate of completion of two years of junior college. This is unbelievable – she wants to be on the school board.

Dr. Goldman:
We, and I am speaking for hundreds of us, are endorsing you and Dr. Matthew. We have seen what our union is doing and we don’t support them. You and Dr. Matthew are the best candidates for the job and will act in the best interest of students.

Dr. Goldman, You know that you and Dr. Matthew have our support. We are scared for our jobs but wanted you to know that Rulffes has Jasonek writing blogs against you and Dr. Matthew. They are supporting Linda Young and Deanna Wright big time because they consider them the twin bubbleheads. These people are so corrupt they even bad mouth each other and sit and plot everyday – forget about doing their jobs. Joyce Haldeman is in a constant state of turmoil. Anyway, we all supoort you. You’ll win.

Dr. Goldman,
I just wanted you and everyone to know that your opponent decided to go negative on you on her web site. She claims the RJ story which revealed how illiterate she is has nothing to do with the issues of the school board race. I guess her inability to read, write or spell are not an issue in a school board race.
She claims the article is attempting to mislead and misdirect the voters. it is also obvious she didn’t write it – compare the styles and you will see.
I write this becasue of two things: One, I am a former Wolff and Taylor parent as well as Miller MS and I know for a fact what a disruptive, mean and nasty woman she is towards teachers and administrators alike. She was hated at these elementary schools and I might add, at Miller MS as well. She calls you names – specifically a “bureaucrat who seems to be part of the problem…” this is from a woman who has never held a job, can’t even finish an AA “degree” and blames her mistakes on a spellchecker. She talks about “moving edcuation forward” without a clue as to how to do that, her only suggestion being to have less teaching and more Halloween parties. This is the woman I know. Secondly; you have dealt with my family and deal with children every day. When she didn’t get her way – the way the majority of us parents wanted Taylor run, like a little baby who didn’t get her way she sued the principal, the school district and even the School Board. She lost so now she wants to run for the school board to vindicate herself. She failed at getting an education, failed to impose her will on teachers and administrators, failed in court, never worked a day in her life and starts to “namecall” when the RJ exposes her for what she is – UNQUALIFIED at any level. Thank you for the work you did with my family and for many others.

The views expressed by Clarisa Woods (above) are 100 % accurate. Your opponent is a terror! When she doesn’t get what she wants, when she feels her child is being expected to perform at the same levels as his peers, or when she is just in a bad mood she takes it out on our teachers, staff, and administration. I have lost count of the number of times she has “barged” into a classroom and interrupted a lesson to ‘go off’ on a teacher or specialist because she had a complaint. This is the last person we need on the school board. She has absolutely NO respect for education, teachers, or schools.

Just to let you know I was appalled to read that the teachers’ union, the superintendent and two sitting school board members, Scow and Johnson think they can buy school board seats for their cronies so that the coverup of their cozy relationships won’t be revealed. They are all afraid they will be exposed after the election. I may be a member for a short while longer (till I can drop) but the union doesn’t speak for me and the thousands of teachers out there who are hard woking and honest. Good luck we all support you.

Hi Dr. Goldman,
Your opponent sent out a mailer saying you had a chance to lead the Southeast Region. And you did! When you were in charge this was the best region with the best principals, teachers and programs. There were standards. Since you left its been one disaster after another. No one supports our principals and certainly not us. Now good administrators want to come and work for you. (Our dean went to work for you – thank you very much!) Don’t get taken in by an uneducated bully (embarrassed even to put her own picture on her flyers) propped up by the corrupt teachers’ union which cares not for teachers or students. We’re teachers and we’re rooting for you.

Mr. Goldman,
In case you hadn’t seen this morning’s letters to the editor in the Review Journal (November 2, 2008) I just wanted to post it here and tell you that I agree wholeheartedly with the letter writer, J. Broeker and the headline “Candidates get dumber and dumber.”
“…Locally, I can only point to your article regarding the Clark County School Board race in District A between Edward Goldman and Deanna Wright. Ms. Wright demonstrated poor writing skills that you so correctly note, not knowing proper words and spellings and certainly not proper grammar. Her excuse was she didn’t know people would look at it-they should see the message through it.
In response to criticism, Ms. Wright called Mr. Goldman a “bookworm.” Horrors! What a terrible thing to call someone running for a School Board position! Next, it’ll be “Don’t vote for someone who is educated and experienced!” What?
Come on voters. Let’s not vote for personalities, but for qualifications. Please, let’s hope that people of substance and knowledge will want to run for office. No more dumbing down, but lifting up is what America and Las Vegas need right now.”
Anyone voting for Ms. Wright should never again complain about the Clark County School District. It starts at the top.

Dr. Goldman,
I am livid that you lost to someone who doesn’t have the qualifications to run a household much less CCSD. The “fix” was on when CCEA (with outlandish monetary support – taken from their members) and the outgoing school board members supported Garvey and Wright. These two members will be re-called during the first year on the Board.

All three reform candidates have lost. I am so disappointed for everyone. I have lost ALL faith in the Clark County School District. We need to DEMAND that the CCSD be broken up once and for all !!!! The school unions are completely corrupt. The voters made a HUGE mistake. God help us all.
